Treatment of pulmonary embolism
Alphavac is a minimally invasive thrombectomy system intended exclusively for the treatment of pulmonary thromboembolism percutaneously.
Alphavac System Components
The Alphavac pulmonary thromboembolism system includes the following components:
- Ergonomic handle with multi-function buttons to vary the amount of cc sucked in, maintain negative pressure, and additional OTW input
- 18F steerable cannula with an 85 degree angle and 34Fr distal funnel
- Shutter to improve the navigability of the cannula
- Proprietary 22Fr introducer
- Waste bag
How it works
The Alphavac system works by aspirating pulmonary thromboembolism mass directly on-site percutaneously, advancing under fluoroscopic guidance to the target. Once in place, the operator activates the aspiration to remove the pulmonary thromboembolism.
Advantages
Benefits of the Alphavac system include:
- Immediate resolution of ongoing pulmonary thromboembolism
Immediate reduction of symptoms
Reduced need for thrombolytic therapy
Quick surgery time
Clinical Studies
Alphavac has been shown to be safe and effective in the APEX-AV study that successfully recruited and treated 122 patients in the United States, in collaboration with the PERT consortium.
