Massive Thrombosis and Vegetations

The AngioVac is a unique medical device that allows the effective suction of massive thrombotic masses, vegetations, myxomas and pedunculated masses in a mini-invasive procedure, through the insertion of a cannula in vena cava or right atrium through the jugular or femoral vein.

The removed masses are automatically filtered and blood is continuously reinfused to the patient without blood loss in a dedicated vein access.

Anngiovac

The Angiovac venous drainage system is comprised of a cannula and extracorporeal circuit.
The cannula is designed to perform venous drainage and for the removal of thrombi, emboli, vegetations during the extracorporeal bypass. The circuit instead serves as extracorporeal circulatory support and is approved for usage for up to 6 hours.

Indications:

  • Massive Thrombosis in Right Atrium
  • Massive Thrombosis in Right Ventricle
  • Vegetations on Cardiac Lead
  • Vegetations on Tricuspid Valve
  • Massive Thrombosis in Superior Vena Cava
  • Massive Thrombosis in Inferior Vena Cava
  • Mixomas in Right Atrium
  • Mixomas in Right Ventricle
  • Cancerous Embolization originated in the Renal district
  • Massive Thrombosis in Iliac Vein
  • Filter in Inferior Vena Cava

The cannula presents a distal tip that expands in a funnel shape to best perform suction of thromboembolic masses. Thanks to the 22 French diameter of the cannula expandable up to 42 French, and to the circuit flow potential of up to 6 Liters per minute, the AngioVac system is the only device in the world approved and patented for the removal of vascular masses greater in size than 20 millimeters.

The circuit includes a filter and is to be connected to a standard centrifugal pump, allowing a potential circulation flow of up to 6 liters per minute.

The system is ultimately designed to act as a veno-venous extracorporeal bypass capable of removing fresh thrombi or emboli in a quick and minimally invasive way, without the need to stop blood circulation.
